GPD WIN 5

The GPD WIN 5 is GPD’s 2025 flagship Windows handheld and the first device on the market to ship with AMD’s Ryzen AI Max (Strix Halo) APU. Pre-mass-production units arrived with reviewers in October 2025; retail ships with an updated 85W TDP ceiling. The WIN 5 is sold by DROIX with a 2-year warranty and is one of two Strix Halo handhelds available, alongside the ONEXPLAYER ONEXFLY Apex.

Design & Build

• 7” form factor handheld, LG-DOW aviation-grade ABS plastic construction.
• No physical keyboard — a break from GPD WIN tradition. First WIN-series handheld without one.
• Device weight: 565g. External battery: 350g (modular, separately carried).
• Dual-fan active cooling.
• Windows Hello fingerprint sensor supported (variant-dependent).

Display

• 7” 1920×1080 IPS touchscreen.
• 120 Hz refresh with AMD FreeSync.
• External 4K 144 Hz output available via the Smart Dock.

• USB4 / USB-C (charging + display).
• HDMI output.
• Mini SSD slot (new BIWIN format, user-upgradeable to 4 TB).
• Full M.2 SSD slot (user-upgradeable to 4 TB).
• RAM is soldered (not upgradeable after purchase — choose capacity at order).

Variants

• gpd-win-5-max-395 — AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (16 cores / 40 CUs). Flagship SKU. RAM options: 32 / 64 / 128 GB.
• gpd-win-5-max-385 — AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 (8 cores / 32 CUs). Lower-cost SKU.
