ONEXPLAYER ONEXFLY Apex Review

Review published 2026-03-04 covering the ONEXPLAYER ONEXFLY Apex, a high-performance Windows gaming handheld described as a “beast of a machine.” Powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395.

Key Specifications

  • CPU/GPU: AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (same chip as GPD WIN 5)
  • Display: 8” 1200p, 120Hz, VRR
  • Weight: 706g (standard) + 387g external battery = 1093g total
  • Storage: Mini SSD support with 2x PCIe lanes
  • Cooling: Available in standard or liquid cooled variants

Performance

Performance matches or slightly beats the GPD WIN 5. Mini SSD speeds reach 3551MB/s compared to 1785MB/s on the WIN 5 thanks to double PCIe lanes. Capable of running Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing, Doom at nightmare settings, and Warhammer at high settings.

Design and Build

The device is heavy at 706g before accounting for the external battery. Combined weight of 1093g causes hand fatigue during longer gaming sessions. The 8” display provides a large viewing area for Windows gaming.

Comparisons

Directly compared with the GPD WIN 5 which shares the same AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. The ONEXFLY Apex edges ahead in SSD speeds and slightly in overall performance benchmarks.

Availability

Currently USA-only at DROIX at the time of review.
