Benchmark Results
| Benchmark | Score |
|---|---|

Cinebench: tops charts for single and multi-core among tested handhelds. 3DMark: good overall; improvements over 7000 series in certain tests.
Gaming Benchmarks
Games tested at various TDP (5-28 W) at 1080p and 720p:
- Forza Horizon 5 (Very Low): noticeable performance increase over 7000 series; 200+ FPS with GPD G1 eGPU on external display
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider: ~10 frame increase until 10 W TDP
- Street Fighter VI: mixed results, good but varied
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (Minimal): comparable to 7840U, often taking the lead
Emulation Performance
Older emulators benefit from improved CPU — lower TDP possible with better battery life. Newer GPU-dependent emulators see some but not substantial improvement.
Games Tested at Best Settings
- Horizon Forbidden West, Goat Simulator 3, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, LEGO Star Wars, Palworld — all above 60 or 30 FPS at best settings.
Key Quote
“The 8840U processors offer at least the same or greater performance than the previous generation.”
Verdict
Best GPD WIN 4 to date. Strong improvement for CPU-intensive games; minimal GPU difference due to same 780M. Oculink port enhances capabilities with eGPU. Price: 1,007.95.
