FPS / Gaming Performance

  • Starting with Forza Horizon 5 we can see that at 4K the MinisForum HX99G does well in second place. It gets 94 frames per second, compared with 101 on the NUCXi7, both on the Very Low graphics settings.
  • At 1080P is where there is a power shift with the MinisForum HX99G, it has a massive 198 FPS average, compared to just 153 on the NUCXi7 in 2nd place. Ryzen mini PC’s run amazingly well compared to Intel and Nvidia devices on this game as we saw in our gaming handheld benchmarks.
  • And at 720P we can see a minor increase at 200 frames per second but still far ahead of the NUCXi7. We won’t see such a dramatic gap in other benchmarks but it goes to show what optimising can do for a game.
  • For Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 we can run at 4K resolution with no upscaling on the Minimal graphics settings. We get around 64 FPS and this will drop below 60 on busier scenes.
  • At 1440P Balanced graphics we get around 85 FPS which should be fine, you may get rare drops below 60. Lower it to Minimal settings for an extra 10 FPS.
  • At 1080P on the Extreme graphics settings with no upscaling, we get around 120FPS average which is plenty for even busy scenes.  You can increase the Anti Aliasing to Ultra and lose 20 or so frames but make it look even nicer.
  • Hogwarts Legacy at 4K Medium graphics with no upscaling was getting us around 30 FPS, and on Low graphics around 35 FPS. It’s a bit too low for smooth gameplay.
  • At 1440P Low graphics settings we saw a nice jump to around 60 FPS. You will see some dips below 60, so you can leave it at that or lock the frames to 30.
  • At 1080P we can go up to Ultra graphics settings and get around 58 FPS. Lock it to 30 if you wanted to. Or if we drop down to High graphics mix settings, we get a solid 60 FPS.
  • You can play mostly at 4K on ‘Prioritise Performance’ settings at 60 FPS with some minor dips below now and again.
  • We can run at 1440P on the ‘Balanced Graphics’ settings locked to 30 Frames Per Second. If you lower to ‘Prioritise Performance’ settings then you will get 60 FPS.
  • At 1080P on the ’Prioritise Graphics’ settings we get mostly 60 frames per second, with some occasional dips below that. Lowering to ‘Balanced Graphics’ will get you a stable 60 FPS.
  • At 4K and 1440P the game was unplayable. At 1080P standard graphics settings we get around 40 frames per second with dips at random intervals.
  • Lowering to 720P on standard graphics settings got us 60 frames per second but we still got random dips in performance.
  • We had no major issues with the PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3. Our ‘go to’ games Tekken 6 and Wipeout HD run at full 60FPS. You may see some rare minor drops when shader caching at the start of levels, but nothing that affects the gameplay on compatible games.
